The Building & Courtyard
The Cellars was originally an old pilchard cellars where pilchards caught off the Cornish coast were processed before sale, hence the three sides to the house with a central open internal courtyard.
The Cellars was built in 1787 and its architectural and historical interest has been recognised with a Grade II listing. Now converted to a luxury holiday cottage a great deal of effort has been made to retain and highlight the fabric of the building.
When you open the big oak front door and walk into The Cellars, you can appreciate immediately how beautiful, airy and light The Cellars is, with large glass windows either side of the open cobbled courtyard.
